There is possibly a serious exploit in Easy Anti cheat which allows hackers to run code on your own PC. This was discovered yesterday during the Apex Legends Global Series where it hit a snag during its regional finals, especially the North American showdown. The event faced an unexpected delay after two prominent players, Noyan "Genburten" Ozkose from DarkZero and Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen from TSM, encountered cyber intrusions mid-game. Genburten suddenly gained the ability to spot competitors through walls, while ImperialHal was unexpectedly equipped with an aimbot.

The issue first arose during the day's third match when Genburten was visibly taken aback upon realizing he could see every player's location.

A Twitch clip captured him exclaiming, "I can see everyone!" as he refrained from playing further. The situation escalated in the following game with ImperialHal, who found himself with an unintended aimbot, leading him to declare, "I have aimbot right now!" Despite his efforts to continue, the game was ultimately called off.

In response to these breaches, the Anti-Cheat Police Department volunteers issued a warning about an RCE (Remote Code Execution) exploit affecting Apex Legends, potentially stemming from the game or its anti-cheat mechanisms. They've advised against playing any games shielded by EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) or other EA (Electronic Arts) titles for the time being.

For those participating in the tournament, the advice was clear: change your Discord passwords, secure your emails, enable multi-factor authentication on all accounts, and consider a clean reinstall of your operating system to fend off any lurking threats like rootkits or other harmful software.

Given these security concerns, the series has been temporarily paused to uphold the fairness and integrity of the competition. The official announcement acknowledged the disruption and promised to provide further updates soon.

I will update this blog once more news comes out, but I highly reccomend not playing any games using Easy Anti Cheat until the issue has been confirmed to be isolated to Apex Legends and until its been fixed.
